About Us
Calne Leisure Centre Limited
Calne Leisure Action Group (CLAG) is a group of local residents and business professionals who formed to rescue the Calne Leisure Centre. The group has been granted license to run the centre from North Wilts District Council (NWDC). With support from NWDC, Calne Town Council and the Area 5 committee, the business plan has been agreed and the license and preliminary funding has been granted. The committee is now formulating the plans to regenerate the centre.
CLAG have formed an IPS (Industrial Provident Society) which will be called Calne Leisure Centre Limited. An IPS is the most tax and charity efficient company formation, giving the centre access to grants and charity donations. This is an important factor moving forward. The centre will be run as a ‘not for profit' company, by a Centre Manager and staff, overseen by a committee made up from local councillors and representatives of local clubs and organisations. The committee will be unpaid (thus reducing management overhead costs). All funds raised in excess of the centre operating costs will be re-invested back into the centre itself, ensuring its future viability for Calne and the surrounding areas.
Calne Leisure Centre Limited is selling shares in the centre (non investment) which will allow the shareholders to vote at the Annual General Meetings on major changes or for new members of the committee.
We welcome offers of support, whether they are financial or physical. We need tradesmen and volunteers to bring the leisure centre to a place that people will enjoy using. We also need your support when we re-open the centre. By you using the centre it will stay open for everyone.
Now it's up to you.
Thank you for your Support
